ecigarettesmokersCommonly referred to as the Electronic Cigarette, Vaporizer Cigarette, Ecigarettes, Smokeless Cigarettes, Ecig, as well as many others this hot new product is taking the United States as well as many other countries by storm! At a casual glance, the electronic cigarette looks like any other cigarette. It’s white, lights up when puffed on, has a detachable nicotine cartridge that looks just like a filter, and produces a smokeless vapor that looks like real cigarette smoke – Because of this, the name “Smokeless Cigarette” can be taken literally. Every day more and more cigarette smokers make the switch to the Ecig and never look back.

Smoke Ecigs Anywhere

Maybe you know someone who smokes ECigarettes. You may have heard them or seen them smoking around non-smokers without bothering them. This is because these smokeless cigarettes don’t produce the foul odor of traditional tobacco cigarettes nor do they have the tar and carcinogens normally found in cigarettes. Smoking an ecig indoors, at bars, restaurants, the movies, even at work although you probably shouldn’t do it in front of your boss.

Smokeless Cigarettes in Social Circles

Maybe you’ve been thinking about making the switch to electronic cigarettes but are worried about looking in strange out in public and in social circles. Fear not, our electronic cigarettes look and feel just like a regular cigarette. Don’t be worried about what people will think about you smoking an ECigarette. The general reaction of people who see them for the first time is usually very positive! Many people still don’t know what electronic cigarettes are making them a great conversation piece.

How the Electronic Cigarette Works

ecig-diagram

A typical electronic cigarette consists of four main parts. The LED light on the end of the cigarette that emulates lighting a cigarette, the battery which powers the cigarette, the atomizer is the heating element that is used to heat and vaporize the liquid, and finally the nicotine (or non-nicotine) cartridge where the liquid is housed. Ecigarettes don’t require lighters or matches to function. When the user inhales on the nicotine cartridge, the liquid is vaporized by the atomizer to create the “smoke.”

Save Money with Electronic Cigarettes

How many times have you started smoking a cigarette only to throw it away when it’s only halfway burned? Electronic cigarette smokers don’t have this problem. They can simply take a couple puffs, put it back in their pocket or carrying case, and be on their way. Since they are powered by a rechargeable battery, electronic cigarettes can be used over and over again with disposable and/or refillable cartridges. A single nicotine cartridge roughly equates to 12-15 cigarettes. Nicotine cartridges tend to come in 5 packs and cost around $9-15. A typical pack of tobacco cigarettes costs around $6-7. It’s easy to see how much money you can save by making the switch to Electronic Cigarettes!

Disposable Electronic Cigarette Review

Posted on September 28th, 2009 in Electronic Cigarette Reviews | No Comments »

disposable-ecigIf you’ve been considering switching to electronic cigarettes but don’t want to spend $50+ on a higher end kit just to test them out then we’ve found the perfect product for you: The disposable electronic cigarette. A big thanks to Electronic Cigarettes Inc. for sending us a free sample of this handy little ecig to review for our loyal readers!

Our disposable electronic cigarette came packed in the same sturdy plastic container you see in the image on the left. It was sealed with a quality control sticker on the back that indicated an expiration date about 8 months from now.

Presentation and Aesthetics

The disposable electronic cigarette is fairly average looking. It’s battery is white and the cartridges are orange. Right above the cartridge is a tiny logo that reads “e-tobacco” along with a tiny pin-sized air hole to control vapor (more on this in a moment). The top of the disposable electronic cigarette is pretty interesting. Where the LED would normally be located is an on/off switch that looks similar to an unlit LED on a higher end electronic cigarette. Unfortunately when you puff on this, it doesn’t light up. This was most likely to save on production costs to keep the price low.

Vapor Production

When it comes to vapor production the disposable electronic cigarette delivers. It allows for long puffs and as far as we can tell, it doesn’t have a cut off time. As we’d mentioned before it has a tiny air hole right above the cartridge to control the amount of vapor inhaled. If you cover the hole with your finger it will simply stop all airflow. This nifty feature works perfectly and does what it was intended to do.

Cartridge Life

The disposable electronic cigarette comes with 2 cartridges that are good for around 300 puffs. They fit nicely into the battery and won’t fall out. Note: The product picture above depicts three cartridges. The one that is in the battery is just for show.

In Closing

The disposable electronic cigarette is a great device for those who are curious, but don’t want to invest a lot of money their first time around. We were a bit disappointed that there is no LED but again, this was probably done to keep costs down. The safety on/off switch and the vapor control are also a nice touch. The disposable electronic cigarette is easy to assemble and works right out of the package. There’s no charging involved.

The disposable electronic cigarette is being sold by Electronic Cigarettes Inc. for only $19.95 each (free shipping).

It is available in Tobacco and Menthol flavors.

You can buy it directly from their website http://www.eciginc.com/disposable-electronic-cigarette.php

Electronic Cigarettes and Pregnancy

Posted on September 27th, 2009 in Articles | No Comments »

importantWe’ve been receiving a lot of questions about whether or not it is safe to smoke electronic cigarettes during pregnancy. We are by no means experts on expectant mothers and pregnancy but the answer to this question is an obvious “NO.” Anything a pregnant woman ingests into her body travels to the baby via the umbilical cord including the chemicals found in cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. As you know, nicotine is an extremely powerful and addictive chemical. If an unborn child is exposed to nicotine it stands the chance to experience withdrawal symptoms after being born as well as a multitude of other problems. The chances of birth defects and other complications are increased if the expectant mother drinks, smokes, or ingests other toxic chemicals during pregnancy. Pregnant mothers who smoke even run the risk of losing their baby.

Under No Circumstances Should You Smoke Electronic or Any Cigarettes While Pregnant or Nursing

If you are a pregnant mother who is currently struggling with quitting smoking we encourage you to read this informative article from the American Lung Association. It is full of great information on what you can do to avoid smoking during pregnancy.

The Many Benefits of Electronic Cigarettes

Posted on September 26th, 2009 in Articles | No Comments »

Electronic Cigarette BenefitsElectronic Cigarettes are a hot topic all over the internet. Video sites, blogs, and forums are full of people who have made the switch to electronic cigarettes and say they will never switch back to the old “analog” cigarettes.

So why do people love them so much?

Here are just a few reasons to consider switching to electronic cigarettes:

You can smoke electronic cigarettes without bothering non-smokers around you.  This is because…

Electronic cigarettes don’t produce the strong  odor that tobacco cigarettes do. They produce a smoke-like vapor that dissipates  quickly.

You can smoke electronic cigarettes indoors and at some bars and restaurants. Obviously not every single bar and restaurant will allow this, but as people learn about ECigarettes they gain more public acceptance. Although some may allow it, smoking your electronic cigarette on a plane may not be a good idea. Be sure to ask your airline company if they allow electronic cigarettes on board.

Electronic Cigarettes are reusable.

Electronic Cigarettes typically come with a rechargeable battery that can be charged many times over. Some as many as 300 times!

Nicotine cartridges are less expensive than buying a pack of cigarettes at the store.

A pack of cigarettes costs around $7.  Compare this to a 5-pack of nicotine cartridges that costs $9.99.  Each cartridge is roughly equivalent to 12-15 cigarettes

Electronic Cigarettes don’t have the tar and other known cancer causing carcinogens typically found in tobacco cigarettes.

You can buy all sorts of different flavored nicotine cartridges and liquids to further customize the electronic cigarette experience.

Will Electronic Cigarettes help me to quit smoking?

Posted on September 24th, 2009 in Articles | No Comments »

No Smoking SignThere are some ECigarette retailers out there that talk as if they are the cure all for quitting smoking claiming that it can be done “Anytime, Anywhere”. Sadly this just isn’t the case. If you’re a regular smoker and have ever tried to quit without success, heck, even with success then you know how hard it is to kick the habit. The withdrawal symptoms can get to be so unbearable that the potential quitter feels no choice but to start smoking again just so they will feel “normal.” If you’re trying to quit don’t lose hope. Most people aren’t able to quit on the first try, or even the second, third, fourth, etc… To understand why outrageous claims such as these are being made, one must understand what electronic cigarettes actually are.

Electronic Cigarettes are an alternative to tobacco.

You’ve probably seen ads about “Healthy” electronic cigarettes. It’s wrong to call them healthy because no form of putting smoke in your lungs is healthy. “Healthier” (than tobacco cigarettes) might be a better word to describe the ECigarette and by now most people are aware that there are thousands of harmful chemicals and carcinogens in cigarettes. ECigarettes could be considered healthier in the sense that they don’t contain these cancer causing chemicals. They instead use a Propylene Glycol vapor to deliver the nicotine to the lungs.

Propylene glycol is a Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) food additive that is widely used in

• Food and tobacco products,

• Pharmaceuticals, and

• Cosmetics.

So why do people say ECigarettes can help you quit?

Electronic Cigarettes offer something tobacco cigarettes can’t: The ability for the consumer to choose the amount of nicotine in their cigarette. You can buy an ECigarette cartridge that has a high nicotine count as well as medium, low, and even one that has no nicotine at all. Hypothetically speaking, if one were trying to quit smoking they could buy an ECigarette kit and wean themselves from high nicotine gradually down to none and possibly have an easier time quitting.

ECigarettes also carry the added benefit of not having to be lit by flame. How many times have you lit a cigarette only to take a few puffs and throw it away? Electronic cigarette smokers enjoy the luxury of being able to take a couple puffs here and there without having to worry about throwing away money. Yes, you could cut the butt off early and put it back in the pack but we all know how awful that makes everything smell.

The Bottom Line

is that ECigs are still in their infancy and it’s just too early to tell if they really will help people quit for good due to lack of scientific testing. That being said, ECigarettes have been very well received in forum and blog communities around the web. Many people have reported making the switch to ECigarettes and found themselves smoking less and not having that sluggish run down feeling that comes with smoking cigarettes.
